See that Volume Pot? Just get rid of it. And the pushbutton too. They are simply not worth the confusion that they cause here.
And that capacitor on pin 5? The one you would think should be the output capacitor? Nah. Actually I realize now that it IS depicted correctly here, (I think) as going to the touch point and the pot that does... /something/ but yeah, it's just confusing the way that I drew that part.

Essentially it's just an LM386 amp feeding back into itself, via your body, a diode, (or not) and a pot which does... well definitely something.
The gain is just set to maximum, (cap from #1 to #8) because nothing else made enough difference to really matter as far as I could tell. You'll have to zoom in on the image to see all the little details.
